July 2010 brings us to the conclusion of yet another busy academic year and to the completion of study for another successful fourth year group who successfully leave us this weekend to begin a new life in professional practice!

This weekend we find our First Year group exploring a most important aspect of homeopathy which is called Miasm. A fascinating aspect of homeopathy and one which will lay the foundation for all their future homeopathic understanding. With lots of new remedies and things to learn we will also explore oedema within the body and consider the causes of this distressing condition.

This month finds our Second Year students learning about nutrition with an emphasis on toxins, obesity and skin problems. Nutrition includes supplements and super foods while the mysteries of our central nervous system and related disease are considered on Sunday. New remedies and even the function of the brain bring this weekend to a satisfying close.

Our Third Year group will also consider nutrition this weekend with an emphasis here on dietary considerations in cancer care. Osteoporosis is in focus, broader prescribing methods are introduced and Sunday brings an exploration into how to deal with children’s skin conditions.

This is the very last weekend for our Fourth Year students!

This weekend is nevertheless an action packed event for this group as they have the opportunity to broaden their understanding of Complementary Health Care. Herbal tinctures are explored and the essential need for quality of patient care is emphasised. A fascinating introduction to Cranio Sacral treatment and even an Acupuncture workshop make this an exciting and varied weekend –in fact one to long remember.

Although this weekend brings us to the conclusion of this academic year our teaching continues throughout the summer.

The student teaching Clinic runs throughout July, August and September to ensure that we continue not only to care for all the patients themselves who come for treatment within these teaching clinics, but also to ensure that we provide additional opportunities for our students to complete their required attendance hours within the Clinical education programme.

So – have a wonderful summer and we will be back for a new academic year in October!
